Video Poker is a popular game that usually will be wagered on in casinos throughout the globe, or alternatively at home on your personal computer, using a web account. The game rules are absolutely simple and consist of the player trying to get the greatest mixture of cards as you can in order to win cash. On this account it is much the same as a classic game of poker, minus the interaction with any other players. Of course, techniques used in a physical game of poker, such as tricking, will be irrelevant here.

The game of Video Poker starts when the player inserts credits (whether it is tokens, credit slips or money) into the video poker machine and pushes the draw button. A hand of 5 cards will then be "given out" on the screen.

The Electronic Poker machine also has hold buttons, and players will need to now choose which cards to hold and which to throw away. For the cards the gambler would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they wish, whether it is all or none.

After the player has decided on which cards she would like to retain, the player will then press ‘draw’, at which point any fresh cards will be dealt if desired. The game is now finished, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands shown on the pay out schedule.

Generally, the lowest winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money getting larger for each and every better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It should be known that the payout schedule can vary from machine to machine, so that discerning players are agile enough to pick the most money-making game every time.

After the first round has completed, the player can either choose to continue on in an attempt to increase their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any cash that they may have won. Further, several versions of the game allow the gambler a chance to double their profits, in which instance a further game is played. There are also differences between specific machines, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other varying elements to enhance playability.
