Electronic Poker is a popular game that can be enjoyed in casinos across the globe, or in your house on your personal computer, through a web connection. The regulations are absolutely simple and involve the player trying to achieve the greatest assemblage of cards possible in order to win money. In this respect it is much the same as a regular game of poker, without the interaction with any other players. Of course, tactics employed during a real-life game of poker, such as tricking, will be useless in Video Poker.

The game of Video Poker begins when the gambler puts credits (either tokens, tickets or cash) into the machine and pushes the play button. A five card hand will be electronically ‘given out’ on the screen.

The Video Poker game also has hold buttons, and players will need to now decide which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the player wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they want, from all to none.

After the bettor has selected which cards he or she would like to retain, the player will then press ‘deal’, which will mean that any new cards are dealt if desired. The round is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands printed on the pay out schedule.

Generally, the minimum succeeding hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It is obvious that the payout schedule can range from game to game, so that experienced players are agile enough to select the most money-making machine each time.

After the initial round has completed, the player can either decide to remain on in an attempt to increase their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any credits that they may have won. Additionally, several styles of the game allow the gambler a chance to increase their profits, in which case a further game is played. There are also variations among individual games, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other differing characteristics to increase playability.
