Video Poker is a popular game that can be gambled on in casinos all over the world, or alternatively at your house on your PC, using a net account. The game rules are absolutely simple and involve the player trying to achieve the best mixture of cards achievable in order to acquire money. On this account it is much the same as a classic game of poker, apart from the line of contact with any other players. Of course, methods employed during a physical game of poker, like bluffing, will be irrelevant here.
The game of Video Poker starts when the enthusiast inserts credits (either tokens, tickets or cash) into the video poker machine and presses the play button. A 5 card hand will be "distributed" on the video screen.
The Video Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and players will need to now pick which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the gambler would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they wish, from all to none.
After the enthusiast has chosen which cards he wishes to retain, the player will then press ‘draw’, which will mean that any new cards will be needed they will be given out. The game is now completed, with the Video Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands printed on the payout schedule.
Normally, the minimum succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each and every better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It is obvious that the payout schedule can vary from game to game, so that skillful gamblers are able to select the most beneficial game each time.
After the first round has finished, the player can either choose to stay on and try to to maximize their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any credits that they may have won. Further, several versions of the game give the bettor a chance to increase their winnings, in which instance another hand is played. There are also variations among specific machines, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other varying aspects to increase playability.
