Video Poker is a popular game that can be bet on in casinos all over the world, or alternatively at your house on your computer, through a net account. The rules are very straightforward and consist of the player trying to achieve the best mixture of cards possible in order to win cash. In this respect it’s very similar as a regular game of poker, without the line of contact with other players. Of course, tactics used in a physical game of poker, like bluffing, will be irrelevant here.

The game of Video Poker begins when the player puts credits (either tokens, tickets or money) into the video poker machine and pushes the play button. A 5 card hand will then be electronically ‘given out’ on the video screen.

The Electronic Poker machine also has hold buttons, and players should now pick which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the gambler would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they wish, from all to none.

After the gambler has decided on which cards he or she wishes to keep, the player will then press ‘draw’, which will mean that any new cards will be needed they will be dealt. The game is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands printed on the pay out schedule.

Normally, the lowest succeeding hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money getting larger for each and every better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It is obvious that the payment schedule can vary from machine to machine, so that skillful gamblers are able to pick the most profitable game each instance.

Once the first round has completed, the player can either decide to continue on and try to to increase their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any money that they may have won. Additionally, several versions of the game give the enthusiast an opportunity to double their wins, in which case a further hand is played. There are also variations between individual games, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other differing characteristics to enhance playability.
