Electronic Poker is a favored game that can be wagered on in casinos across the world, or alternatively at your house on your home computer, using an Internet connection. The rules are absolutely straightforward and consist of the player attempting to achieve the best combination of cards possible in order to win money. In this respect it is very similar as a regular game of poker, apart from the involvement with competing players. Of course, methods employed during a physical game of poker, such as tricking, will be irrelevant in Video Poker.

The game of Electronic Poker starts when the gambler puts credits (whether it’s tokens, tickets or money) into the machine and presses the play button. A five card hand will then be electronically ‘dealt’ on the video screen.

The Video Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and gamblers should now choose which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the gambler would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they want, whether it is all or none.

After the gambler has chosen which cards she wishes to retain, they should press ‘deal’, at which point any fresh cards are dealt if desired. The game is now completed, with the Video Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands listed in the payout schedule.

Normally, the minimum succeeding hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money getting larger for each and every better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It definitely goes without saying that the pay out schedule can change from machine to machine, so that experienced gamblers are agile enough to select the most beneficial ones every time.

As soon as the initial round has completed, the player can either choose to continue on and try to to maximize their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any cash that might have been won. Further, some styles of the game allow the player a chance to increase their profits, in which situation another round is played. There are also differences between individual games, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other differing aspects to enhance playability.
